Tibetan dzi bead made from etched agate and displays the 6-eyed (makara) pattern. The lines of the design are nice and clean. There is even some banding present in the bead. The bead actually has the desirable and unusual trait of being translucent when a light is shown through the bead. It has a satin appearance/texture and displays typical circular age marks.
Newly created dzi beads, such as this one, provide the opportunity for people to own an etched agate dzi without the high cost of the very rare and ancient dzi. Ancient dzi prices can actually exceed the cost of a new car and then some! Newly created dzi beads are growing exponentially in popularity and actually have a considerable collectible market value of their own because of how well they are being made now.
