Beautiful antique Himalayan carnelian bead displaying lovely patina and marks from age. It has a large fissure with a crystaline appearance that makes it all the more interesting. We believe the fissure is most likely naturally occurring rather than an intentional ritualistic mark. Also present are prominent circular patterns with large oval banding on one side. The bead also features a nice range of fiery hues. The wear pattern around the holes indicate this bead has most likely been worn. These were actually obtained through trade with another collector who maintained they are Tibetan in origin however we are unable to personally verify that beyond being of Himalayan origins in general.
Measurements: 26.5mm x 11.5mm
The hole is somewhat difficult to measure with accuracy as it varies on either side because of the antique drilling methods used to make the hole. Something under 1mm could fit through it with ease.
