Spectacular antique Himalayan carnelian bead displaying lovely patina and minimal age pitting. The pattern in this bead is incredible as I have never seen anything like it. It has wild black veining and swirling white banding. Although faint, the wear patterns around the holes indicate that this bead was possibly worn. These were actually obtained through trade with another collector who maintained they are Tibetan in origin, however we are unable to personally verify that beyond originating from the Himalayan regions in general.
Measurements: 23mm x 12mm
The hole is somewhat difficult to measure with accuracy as it varies on either side because of the antique drilling methods used to make the hole. Something under 1mm could fit through it with ease.
