Antique Himalayan carnelian bead displaying nice patina and age pitting. Some surface fissures are present further indicating age. This bead also displays lovely subtle banding patterns, and is somewhat rectangular in shape. The wear pattern around one of the holes looks possibly to be made from the bead being worn on string or cord over time. These were actually obtained through trade with another collector who maintained they are Tibetan in origin however we are unable to personally verify the origin beyond from the Himalayan regions in general.
Measurements: 23mm x 11mm
The hole is somewhat difficult to measure with accuracy as it varies on either side because of its antiquity and the drilling methods used to make the hole. Something under 1mm could fit through it with ease.
